Council Votes to Keep ALEX

The Phoenix City Council voted yesterday to keep ALEX, although it is cutting half of the funding for the popular bus service. Doug Murphy over at the Ahwatukee Foothills News has the full story here. The bottom line is that ALEX will still be operational, but with a smaller route schedule.

About 1,000 people in Ahwatukee Foothills ride ALEX daily. Many are seniors who no longer drive and students who take the bus from school to recreation programs.

The Phoenix Public Transit Department said the changes will be announced later this spring and take effect in July.
